Persuasive Action Presentation

Assignment Description

Informing audiences about new ideas can be great, but public speaking has long been used (and misused) to persuade audiences to act. The most impactful communications tend to be those that get people to move and do things. From businesspeople to public servants to teachers to leaders of social movements, persuasion spurs people to create change. In this presentation you will craft a well-researched persuasive appeal about an important and socially relevant problem that you can invite your audience to help solve. Ultimately, you will try your best to persuade your audience of something that they can take part in themselves immediately, even if only in a modest way.

This assignment also requires you to submit a typed speech, containing properly referenced citations, providing your audience with credible evidence in support of your arguments. See Blackboard for materials about APA format requirements for citations and references. You will be evaluated on the written portion as well as your video-recorded presentation.

Note: This is an individual assignment, not a group assignment.
